Aesop's Fables
by Teodora Sirko / Aesop |
Each fable contains a short narrative which conveys
a hidden meaning, which represents the moral of
the story. The characters are mostly animals and
they illustrate a human characteristic, through
certain gestures and words. The purpose of the fables
is the improvement of human conduct. They try to
point out and discourage the shortcomings of human
nature and, at the same time, to arise our admiration
for noble and honorable behaviour. The fables set
a model for a virtuous life.
This edition addresses especially to children, through
accessible language and richly detailed illustrations
which appeal to young readers. Teodora Sirko’s
illustrations capture the characters ‘ gestures
and movements with precise fidelity to Aesop’s
intent.
